Clear & Sheer Class by Online Card Classes-1

I've been participating this week in the newest class from

This class is all about vellum and acetate on cards.

I've truly enjoyed it.

Here are a few of the cards I've made with techniques learned in class.

I've had this panel in my stash for a few months now, but couldn't decide what to
do with it. I used the two dies from the Young At Heart Stamp of Approval box and cut the
panel down then used the same scalloped frame die to cut the vellum.
I glued the outer frame directly to the card front and I added foam tape
between the other layers and viola the card was done. Clean, simple and WOW what an impact!

I used clear embossing paste mixed with Gold Delicata Ink to create this card.
I also used a little Heidi Swapp Color Mist.
Diecut the vellum with a MFT stitched circle die and used Versa Fine Onyx Black Ink
and WOW clear embossing powder for the bird and sentiment both by Vintalogic.

I combined two things with this card, so if you want more details on it see THIS POST.

More cards for class to come, check back soon.

Don't forget to join us May 4th for a Star Wars themed blog hop.

Mono-printing and Happy Little Stampers Challenge

Thought I'd participate in the

If you know me at all, you know I don't usually make just one card.

When I sit down to play in my craft room, I make lots of cards.

I play with a technique or a product and make several things, sometimes
I don't finish the cards or projects right away.  Sometimes, the card fronts (or other projects)
get relegated to a basket on my desk for use in the future.

Well not these babies!

I bought a gelli plate a few weeks ago and it's just been sitting unused in my room ever since.

Well this HLS challenge got me motivated to break it out of the package.

I have to admit the results weren't what I had hoped for.

I bought a cheaper gelli plate and it very thin and personally I don't think it was
worth the money, BUT that said it was a blast to play with.

However, a few tips, use cheaper acrylic paints,
as they tend to have a longer drying time or invest in an extender.

A couple of times my paint seemed to dry before I even got the paper to it and
I had all my supplies, cut and ready to go.

Also apply more paint than you think you need and use a good quality brayer.
This too might have contributed to my disappointment.
I have a fabulous brayer that was a gift to me from a secret sister swap and
do you think I could find it when I wanted it. NO I could not!
I used an old cheap brayer that has seen better days.

Ok, enough yapping, on with the cards!

Stamp of Approval Mixing & Matching Collections

Ok, it's a day late, but here is the post I promised with a few cards for Stamp of Approval.

I mixed and matched different SOA collections and threw in a little
homework for the Online Card Classes Clear & Sheer class too.

For this first one I combined small stamps from the Birthday & Beautiful World SOAs.
I arranged them in a pattern I liked, added them to a clear block then stamped them
rotating the block each time, until I filled the card front.

I used the scallop frame die from the Birthday SOA to cut a piece of heavy weight vellum
and then used MFT dye ink to color the back of it.

I added the sentiment with Versa Mark from the BW SOA to the front of the vellum
and used Brutus Monroe Alabaster Embossing Powder.
The butterfly is a combo of the BW SOA butterfly die and one I had laying around in my stash.

I colored the larger butterfly with Mama Elephant pigment ink and added several (5 or 6) coats
of WOW clear embossing powder.

The BW SOA butterfly was cut from a scrap piece I had laying on my desk from playing
with gelli plate monoprints for a challenge.  I used my heat gun to melt the
embossing powder slightly to adhere the BW SOA to the larger one.

For this second card, I combined the stencil from the very first SOA and the
birthday sentiment from the Birthday SOA and the heart shaped stem with leaves from
the BW SOA.

I used a few Ranger Distress inks blended over the stencils and some
Versa Mark to stamp the sentiment and heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Penny Embossing Powder.  The leaves/stems were stamped using Versa Fine Onyx Black ink and WOW clear
embossing powder over the top.

I mentioned above that I'd been doing a little gelli plate mono-printing.
Here's one of the cards that resulted from that play time.

I used the stencil from the first SOA box and the Two Yous dies and the All About You
stamp set from the Beautiful World SOA set.

Ranger Distress paint was used for the mono-printing.

That's it for today, but I'm sure there will be lots more with these fabulous products.

April Showers Blog Hop

Welcome to the

We're so glad you are hopping with us today.
We've got all kinds of great baby and bridal shower related crafts and ideas for you.

This is the first stop on the hop, be sure to check out the line up at the
end of the post for all the great blogs participating in today's hop.

Now on with the projects.

I went digging through my diecuts drawer and got busy making cards.

This first one, a 5.5 x 5.5 inch square card, features a diecut bear with heart
from my friend and fellow DT member at Card A Day Challenge Blog, Denise,
and a diecut heart that I cut on the library Ellison machine years ago
before I owned a Cricut or Big Shot.
(Don't judge me, I know you all have a secret stash of stuff too!)

I mixed and matched sentiments from a couple of stamp sets and used
Stampin' Up Watermelon Wonder ink.  Throw in a little patterned paper and the card was finished.

The inside features a rub on that's been in my stash for years too.

Next I found another cut-at-the-library diecut and another rub-on.
I dug out the embossing folders (man were they dusty) and the Perfect Pearls mist.

I spritzed the embossed sheet, the bells and the pink layer.
You can't see it well in the pic but in real life it's pretty cool.

That same pink paper spritzed with LOTS of Perfect Pearls, another rub on and
a another diecut. This one from another friend and fellow DT member, Gracie.
I used a Copic marker to color the silver scroll work to match the bride's
color scheme of pink and navy.

Thanks for hopping with us today. Be sure to comment on each blog along the way
to be entered in today's giveaway for a $15 gift certificate to

Your next stop is the Card A Day Challenge Blog Design Team.

Big News!

Do you follow me on Facebook?

If not you can't find me HERE.

I announced yesterday my big news on Facebook and now it's time to share it here on the blog.

I was chosen as Guest Designer on StampNation for the April - June quarter.

I'm so excited and honored to be chosen.

I'll be participating along with the Dream Team in the weekly challenges and a couple of
amazing upcoming features including the Stamp of Approval reveal on April 20th.

This week's challenge on SN is a photo inspiration challenge.

I took the gold frame, the bird and the wallpaper as inspiration for this card shared on SN.

I used Delicata Gold Ink to color Dreamweaver Clear Embossing Paste and
applied it through a Hero Arts stencil.

VersaFine Onyx Black Ink and WOW Clear Embossing Powder on vellum cut with the
MFT Stitched Stacked Circle Dies created the focal point.

Heavyweight black and white cardstock create the layers and the card base.

This second card was also inspired by the photo challenge.
The pink flowers, the woodgrain, the black legs of the table and the gold frame were the points of the photo I pulled out for this one.

Here's the supply list:
Kraft card stock with Tim Holtz Wood Grain Stencil
Perfect Pearls Mist over the woodgrain layer
Ranger Texture Paste colored with Ranger Distress Ink
Delicata Gold Ink on wooden Hello from Type Set by Basic Grey
Black cardstock with Heidi Swapp Tinsel Color Shine spray
Heidi Swapp Mist-able Flowers with Dylusions Bubble Gum Pink Spray Ink
Random pink gem from my stash

OK, one more.

The wallpaper, the chair colors, the bird and the gold frame were the inspiration for this one.
Supply list:
Ranger Distress Inks in Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers
VersaFine Onyx Black Ink
Gold glitter tape

And last but not least for today, did you buy the last SOA?
Want a chance to win the next one?
