StampNation Stencil Class Lesson 1

Catherine Pooler and the Dream Team over on StampNation have been working on the next class for Creativity Grows Here.   In January, we celebrated SN's 5th birthday and as a gift to all the members Catherine gave us the class for free. If you aren't a SN member yet, why not? It's a great place for stampers and cardmakers and creativity and inspiration abound. The class will be available to take on CGH in the fall.

Lesson One was on basic stencil techniques.

Here are the cards that I created for it:

I have to say that the tree one is my favorite.
Leave me a comment and tell me which you like the best.

I'll be back tomorrow with my card(s) for Lesson 2: Masking & Sponging.

L.E.A.P Blog Hop

Welcome to

Have we got a hop challenge for you today.
Take the letters LEAP and create any paper crafting project:
a card, a scrapbook layout, a journal page, etc.

Here is the trick...whatever you make must use L-E-A-P in it somewhere.

For example: A lavender (L) card with embossing (E) and angled (A) with prills (P).

Get it. So who is up to the LEAP challenge.

Throw a frog into your project and you've leaped right off the lily pad.

Now on with the projects...

This hop was my idea and man did I have a hard time coming up with a project for it.
Lilac & Lavender inks + Embossed Icing on the cake + Angled Cake +  Perfect Pearls and Presents = LEAP.

For today's project, I did a two page digi scrapbook layout of the
black-tie gangster-inspired New Year's Eve Gala to benefit the Koda Bear Foundation.

My sisters and their husbands are all very active in the foundation events and I've donated
gift certificates for my photography business for auction at the various events.

The New Year's Eve Gala was another fund raiser for the foundation and my hubby and I attended along with our BFF's Gina & John (in the beige dress) and my crazy sister Becca & her hubby Andrew (in the black dress).

Here's more info on this wonderful foundation if you are interested in donating or attending an event.

Koda Bear Foundation is a foundation that makes Koda Bears to give to grieving families after the loss of a child while still at the hospital. We donate the bears to the hospital but also sell them to the general public to purchase or sponsor to give to other families. Each bear has a special message on the tag to comfort the families that have just lost their child.
We use the funds from the bears to make headstones for families who cannot afford one.
The more bears we can sell the more headstones we can purchase.  All proceeds will go to help our families in need.
Donations can be mailed to Koda Bear Foundation 420 South Hazel Street Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351
or sent through paypal to kodabearfest@gmail.com.

A Year of Card Techniques February Blog Hop

Welcome to

It's month two of our year long adventure into different card-making techniques,
folds and paper crafting products.  Join us the second Saturday of each month in 2016
for a new hop filled with great cards.

This month we will be focusing on ink layering techniques and OMGosh have we got
some cool cards for you.  We really love feedback so please leave a comment on each of the
blogs in today's hop.  Each comment on the 12 hops throughout the year will be entered
into a prize drawing for a $25 Blitsy.com gift certificate at the end of the year.

Don't worry, if you missed January's hop, you can still hop and comment by starting HERE

Now on with the projects.

All of the stamps are from the newest Stamp of Approval Collection, Young at Heart.

I used a combo of Color Box white pigment ink and Memento inks
or Ranger Distress Inks for these cards.

For the last one I C.A.S.E.d Jennifer McGuire's card in one of the videos.
I added Wink of Stella over the balloons slightly obscuring the ink layering.

Here's a few more cards I thought you might enjoy using ink layering and stencils that I made for StampNation's Stenciling Class.

These all used Color Box White Pigment ink and Ranger Distress Inks.

I also thought I'd share the videos that inspired us
with these ink layering techniques in case you'd like to give it a try too.
